Multiplying and Dividing Fractions
In Maths this week, we will be learning how to multiply and divide fractions.
Today, we have learned how to multiply a whole number by a fraction using visual and written methods. The first image is a visual method for multiplying whilst the second is a written method:
Some of us have begun to learn how to multiply a whole number by a mixed fraction. When doing this, we are using the same written method as displayed above whilst also converting the mixed fraction to an improper fraction during the calculation process.
Practising these methods at home will really help support the learning in school as we explore calculating fractions further. This is also a key topic in the KS2 Maths SATs.
Viking Myths
We have started to create our Viking myths and these are the 14 characters we have come up with:

Forming Enquiry Questions
This week in science we have been looking at the topic of ‘Light’. We had a very interesting discussion about everything that we already know and then came up with over 20 intriguing questions that we want to know the answers to. We sorted the questions into 3 categories : questions that we can answer now through research, enquiry questions that we can investigate ourselves in future lessons and questions that we may never be able to find the answer to, such as ‘when will the sun burn out?’ We are going to add this final category of questions to our class ‘Wonder Wall’ so that we can continue to wonder about them, and we will plan investigations to answer our enquiry questions in the coming weeks.
