Lewis Chessmen

We have started to practise using clay to make a replica set of the Lewis Chessmen (ask your child to tell you all about them). Mr Sadler came in and taught us how to set the correct proportions for each piece and showed us how to model the clay – thank you Mr Sadler. I think you’ll agree that the results so far are fantastic. Our aim is to make a complete replica set so that we can use it to play chess against each other.

Blood Smoothies

This term in science, we are learning all about the human circulatory system. Today we looked at blood and the components it’s made up of. We added white blood cells (mini-marshmallows), red blood cells (raspberries) and platelets (sugar granules) to plasma (apple juice) and blended it together to make a delicious ‘blood’ smoothie. Cheers!

🎶Keyboard Lessons🎶

We had our first session in the new Music Centre today and had great fun! We learnt about staves, treble clefs and time signatures as well as the notation for different lengths and pitches of the notes C, D and E. We will be playing Beethoven in no time. Ask your child if they can tell you the names of a one-beat, two- beat and four- beat note.

Athletics

We were lucky enough to try out lots of new athletics activities this week including: triple jump, high jump, long jump and hurdles. The children did brilliantly and although it was tricky to get clear pictures I hope you can enjoy these blurry ones!
