Science Task
Your task is to take a Science Selfie: a photo showing you taking part in some aspect of science. Share your selfie to the Padlet and comment explaining what element of science you are doing.
You can choose any aspect of science that interests you. If you need some inspiration there are some great ideas on this website: http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/experiments.html and there are a few attachments here that may be of use.
We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Guided Reading
Task Three
For Friday’s Task Three, we are moving away from our Charles Darwin graphic novel until next week. We are going to look at a poem called Spinners. You can access the poem and the comprehension questions here: https://ZAEYCUZ.exampro.net
Once you have opened the link, you will see two tabs. One is titled ‘questions’ and one is titled ‘ resource’. The poem is accessible in the resource tab and you can move between the two tabs whenever you like.
I will add the answers into the tabs on Monday.
Task Two
For Guided Reading this week, you will need to access the online resource that was sent out to you for MyON. Access it here: https://readon.myon.co.uk/ In the search bar, type in “Charles Darwin and the Theory of Evolution”. You will need the graphic novel written by Heather Adamson. We will focus on Chapter One this week.
Read Chapter One again and answer these questions in your exercise book. Find the evidence in the text to support your ideas and answers.

Task One
Once you have read Chapter One, complete the vocabulary task below.
Maths
In Maths this week, we will be looking at angles. However, before we get on to that, I’d like to draw your attention to a website resource that the government have helped create to support your home learning. For those of you who aren’t very confident with fractions or those of you who want a reminder, there is a daily lesson on fractions here: https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/year-6/#schedule You will need to complete a quick quiz beforehand to help set you off at the right point. Please let me know if you find this resource useful.
Task Three
Warm Up

Main Task
Please follow the link to the presentation on missing angles in a triangle (Lesson 4, Summer Week One) and then complete the set of ‘Maths Task Three’ questions at the very bottom of this blog page. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/
Answers to these will be posted on Monday. Please also have a go at the Testbase reasoning questions. You will need to use the things you have learned from the past two Maths tasks to help you.
Task Two
Answers for Monday’s questions: https://SOGOVEC.exampro.net
Warm Up
Please log in to Times Table Rockstars and complete some of your times table practice and games. Remember, Mrs Nicholls has entered us into a Times Table Rockstars competition against another school. If you want to login and use your Times Table Rockstars more frequently than just as your Maths warm up, then please do. It will help us int eh competition. How exciting!
Main Task
Please follow the link to a series of presentations on angles in a triangle and then complete the sets of questions below. Answers to these will be posted on the blog on Friday.
You will need your sound on to be able to listen to the presentations. Please use lessons 2 and 3. These sessions concentrate on the angles in different types of triangle. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/
Once you have watched these presentations, complete the sets of questions below. Only one of these questions will require a protractor. You will be able to tell which one it is as it will ask you to measure. All questions that ask you to calculate and solve can be answered without using a protractor.
Questions for Maths Task Two can be found at the bottom of this page. I am having some trouble formatting the blog page this week so that everything is in the right place! Sorry. 🙂
Task One
Warm Up
Main Task
Please follow the link to a PPT on vertically opposite angles (Summer Term, Week 1, Lesson One). You will want to have your speakers on to hear the explanations. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/
If you have a protractor at home, you may want to have a go at the questions next to the powerpoint. If you don’t have a protractor at home, you will not be able to do all of these questions.
However, everyone should have a go at the reasoning style questions below (a protractor is not needed to solve these calculations). I will post the answers to these on Wednesday. https://sogovec.exampro.net/
English Writing
This week, I have set two Writing Challenge tasks for the whole school. You should be able to see these on the Writing Challenge tab near the top of the blog page. If not, please let me know on the padlet and I will sort this for you. The Writing Challenge is NOT your English writing lesson tasks. It is a separate challenge so please ensure that you also continue to look at the English Writing section of each Home Learning tab on the blog (HL).
Task Three
SPAG Task – You will need to log in to Purple Mash to complete today’s spelling practice game.
Main Task – Today’s task is a fairly thoughtful one. You will need to return to our graphic novel that we have used for Guided Reading this week. Access it here: https://readon.myon.co.uk/ In the search bar, type in “Charles Darwin and the Theory of Evolution”. You will need the graphic novel written by Heather Adamson.
Re-read Chapter One and use this to help you form a mindmap of thoughts, feelings and emotions that Charles Darwin might have had about going on his journey on the HMS Beagle. See if you can include some ideas related to how he might wish his Dad would view this journey, what reasons he might give to persuade his Dad that this was the best choice for him and how he may have felt about his Uncle’s support. Try to get as many ideas down as you can because your mindmaps will help you to plan and write your own persuasive letters as Charles Darwin next week.
Task Two
SPAG Task – You will need to log in to Purple Mash to complete today’s spelling practice. There are a few more words than on Monday.
Main Task – Your main task today is to firstly read once more the persuasive letter example that was shared with you on Monday.
Next, you will need to attempt to box this letter up to help you understand the different parts of the letter and figure out what information has been used within each section and what grammatical features it will be important for you yourself to use in each section when writing your own letter next week.
To do this, all you need to do is draw a table with two columns into your exercise book. Use the left hand side for the sections of the letter (structure) and the right hand side for the key details and facts (content), very much like when we plan our writing. To help get you started on this task, the first couple of sections to consider are likely to be the sender’s address, the recipient address, the salutatiion (Dear …..) and the purpose for writing.
A full example of this will be posted on Friday to ensure that you have managed to identify all the sections correctly and have put the content of the letter into the right sections.
Task One
SPAG Task – The first of your tasks this week is to use your SPAG booklet that you took home as a revision style warm up. Please concentrate on section three and then complete the mini quiz. Again, you can then use the mark scheme at the very back of the booklet to help you mark it.
I have also created a daily spelling quiz game for you on Purple Mash. You will have two days to complete each quiz. Access Purple Mash here: https://www.purplemash.com/sch/coopersedge
Main Task – For today’s task, I would like you to read the example of a persuasive letter below. In your exercise books, create a list of features that you find and any other notes you wish to make. We will use these to help us write out own persuasive letters to the Captain of the HMS Beagle this week.
