The spellings for this week are as follows:
Good morning.
We have quite a few children this morning who have come into school without a coat for this morning’s Forest School session.
Please could you ensure that your children have a warm, waterproof coat with them as part of their Forest School kit.
Thanks.
This week’s spellings are as follows:
These spellings are also on display in the classroom all week and the children will be tested on Tuesday 15th October.
If you have any concerns regarding the spelling words being sent home or spot any errors in the photocopied scheme sheets, please do let us know. We do encourage the children to correct any mistype in the pre-published spellings. However, we will ensure they are displayed correctly on the blog each week (and continue to be displayed in the classroom) from now on to prevent any confusion.
Please remember that we have an open door policy and would love to hear from you.
This week the children have been working incredibly hard! We would like to give focus this week to our PSHE, computing and art work.
PSHE
In PSHE, we have been discussing stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination. The children came up with their own ideas of stereotypes that they have seen in the media and shared these. We have had some very thought-provoking discussions over the impact of stereotyping. Next week, we will be looking at inspirational people who have challenged stereotypes and how they did this. For homework, we would like the children to do some research on somebody who has had to challenge a stereotype and be prepared to share their findings with the class.
Computing
We have been continuing to look at staying safe online and thinking about how we (and others) use social media.
Photography
The children have begun to digitally edit the photos that they took at Purton Hulks on Monday. They are looking amazing! Please take a look at some of the examples below.
Homework
For homework, we would like the children to do some research on somebody who has had to challenge a stereotype and be prepared to share their findings with the class. This may be presented in any form that the children wish, e.g. poster, leaflet, powerpoint, etc.
Forest School
We have now arranged some additional Forest School sessions for the children (originally these were not due to start until Spring term). Forest School will begin on Wednesday 2nd October and will take place during the first session. Please ensure that your children have appropriate kit for Forest School as in previous years.
Have a lovely weekend!
Welcome to Year 6! We hope you have all had a lovely Summer break.
‘Meet the Teacher’ Evening
On Thursday 5th September, we will be running two ‘Meet the Teacher’ information evenings. They will take place at 3:30pm and again at 4pm.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Swimming
This year, Year 6 will participate in swimming lessons in the Autumn term. Our first session will take place on Tuesday 10th September. Please ensure that your child has their swimming kit with them.
